This Frame Set was requested by an actress looking to celebrate the deep friendship she enjoys with two fellow actresses. All hailing from Scotland and proud of their roots, these three met in a play and have deemed themselves as emotionally inseparable ever since.
The Frames therefore call upon Celtic mythology and the mysticism of Scottish folklore. Each actress is represented by a water-kelpie, composed of maps from that individual’s life as it crashes through waves of painted music manuscript displaying songs that the three women share together historically. The ancient Celtic script of Ogham then connects these three Frames, written upon the sides of a triangle that runs through each piece - a nod to the triangle formed when the homes of these three are connected on a map.
Each piece therefore stands alone, rich in personal details, but they also hold additional brilliance when united as a three; much like this remarkable trio’s friendship.
“The process was thoughtful, caring and surprisingly emotional! Phil was so receptive to all of my ideas throughout, he took the thoughts I had and added his imagination and technical ability to create a beautiful and very special finished product.” – Sarah MacRae, London
